THEOLOGICAL ANALYSIS OF THE SIGNS OF THE TIMES CATEGORY

Abstract

The category “signs of the times” is a recent expression in the teachings of the Catholic Church, although it has its genesis in the Old Testament treatment of time and in the explicit mention of this term by Jesus of Nazareth. However, its use has not enjoyed sufficient theological reflection, and, for this reason, it can present various interpretive difficulties and pastoral repercussions. The present reflection attempts to expose from a biblical and magisterial analysis some minimum elements necessary to continue with its theological and ecclesial problematization.
