O BELO EM PLOTINO: DO MÚLTIPLO AO UNO

Resumo

O objetivo deste estudo é compreender como do belo sensível se pode chegar à conversão ao Uno. A leitura do tratado Sobre o belo mostra que ver o belo inteligível através do sensível produz amor pela beleza. Esta visão erótica afigura-se caminho para a conversão ao Uno. A leitura do tratado Sobre a dialética indica que o músico capaz de se emocionar com a beleza dos sons passa a amar o belo. Amante, inicia a segunda etapa do caminho, tornando-se dialético. Portanto, cabe verificar as semelhanças e as diferenças entre estes dois tratados, e por fim, indicar como, através da visão do belo chega-se ao Uno.

Abstract: This study aims to understand how one can, from sensible beauty, turn towards the One. The reading of the treatise On beauty reveals that seeing the intelligible beauty through the sensible yields love for beauty. This erotic view turns out to be a way for the turning towards the One. The reading of the treatise On dialectics indicates that the musician who is able to be touched by the beauty of sounds is led to love beauty itself. The lover steps forward to the second part of the way, becoming a dialectician. Thus, resemblances and differences between the two treatises are to be assessed, as well as how the One is reached trough the vision of beauty.
