Apoiado em Ladriere, o texto trata de como os signos se relacionam com os seus referentes, nas ciências formais, nas ciências empíricas e nas ciências hermenêuticas. Conceitos como o de representação e modelo são invocados em cada um destes níveis.

Abstract: Supported in Ladriere, the text deals with how signs related to their referents, in the formal sciences, in the empirical sciences and in the hermeneutic sciences. Concepts such as representation and model are invoked in each of these levels.
