A CRÍTICA DE CARNAP AO ARGUMENTO DE WITTGENSTEIN CONTRA A POSSIBILIDADE DE UMA METALINGUAGEM

Abstract

Argumenta-se que a tentativa anti-wittgensteiniana de Carnap, tal como desenvolvida na década de 30, de reconstruir proposições filosóficas como proposições formais fracassa. O exame das duas interpretações possíveis do sentido destas proposições formais mostra que o critério de tradutibilidade de proposições filosóficas em proposições formais não considera adequadamente as características essenciais do discurso filosófico.

Abstract: It is argued that Carnap's anti-Wittgensteinian attempt, as developed in the thirties, to construe philosophical propositions as formal propositions fails. The examination of the two possible interpretations of these formal propositions shows that the proposed criterium of translatability of philosophical propositions in formal ones does not consider adequately the most central features of the philosophical discourse.
