Abstract

Our article is divided into two parts. The fi rst part aims to show how the meaning of transcendence is deeply rooted in all Heideggerian thought. The second part seeks to illustrate this reading hypothesis using some texts from the philosopher’s youth and interpreting them based on various studies on the genesis of his work. However, we assume that his relationship with Christianity was not overcome neither with his break with the “system of Catholicism”, either with his philosophical departure from theology. On the contrary, the Christian experience, in a way, persists throughout its itinerary and it is present, even after the “turnaround” (Kehre) of the 1930s. This experience, beyond any doctrinal adherence, feeds the question about God as the always unthought transcendence incarnated in the thought of and in existence.
