The present work seeks to show that despite the great differences between the Dialectics of the Enlightenment and the Aesthetic Theory, Theodor Adorno’s elaborate conception of art in the Aesthetic Theory is indebted to the Dialectics of the Enlightenment, that is, it is carried out based on the assumptions developed in it. For example, one of the fundamental assumptions of Enlightenment Dialectics is that the origin of art was the result of the separation between mimetic praxis, situated in prehistory, and praxis whose central core is lighting as a domain of nature, situated in history. This dichotomy was not abandoned in the Theory of Aesthetics, on the contrary, this work uses this separation to develop its main concepts.
