Abstract

In this article we analyze how Leibniz’s natural philosophy challenges the canon of absolute space, by defending the relativity of bodies in motion and the ideal nature of space and time. We argue that the Leibnizian relativistic postulate not only anticipated, but also elaborated, in broader conceptual terms, the philosophical basis for the principle of relativity formulated by Einstein.
