Abstract

The relationship between religion and politics is an old topic in anthropology. Contrary to the most common narratives, anthropologists have insisted on the permanence of religion in modernity. However, over the past years, its presence has led to the development of some features that scholars had not foreseen. This article aims to discuss the importance and the contemporaneity of Spinoza's ideas in order to open new perspectives, especially from his Theological-Political Treatise. The study also intends to contribute to the construction of a coexistence in diversity, essential for a democratic society.
