O LUGAR DO SOFRIMENTO HUMANO NO PENSAMENTO POLÍTICO MODERNO

Abstract

Este artigo é uma análise do conceito de poder na obra de Habermas. Seguimos a reflexão habermasiana sobre o poder a partir de A transformação estrutural da esfera pública até a Teoria da ação comunicativa, de modo a mostrar a relação entre poder e institucionalização da ação. Entendemos que só depois da elaboração do conceito de ação comunicativa, o poder encontra seu lugar adequado na obra filosófica do autor. Contudo, ele o encontra como conseqüência de uma concepção ofensiva da esfera pública, capaz de caracterizar de maneira comunicativa as instituições políticas da sociedade moderna.

Summary: This article is an analysis of the concept of power in the Habermasian work. We follow the author's approach of power from The Structural Transformation of the Public Sphere to Theory of Communicative Action in order to show the relation between power and action institutionalization. It is our contention that only after the elaboration of the concept of communicative action, power finds its proper place within the author's philosophical construction. However, it finds it at the expenses of an offensive conception of the public sphere able to shape communicatively modem society's political institutions.
