KARTHASIS POÉTICA EM ARISTÓTELES

Resumo

Após os influentes estudos de Bernays, a noçãoaristotélica de katharsis poética foi fundamentalmente interpretada como um alívio de certas afecções mentais à luz de uma leitura psicopatológica das emoções. Esta interpretação não deixa de ter problemas, um dos quais consiste justamente na difícil compatibilidade desta interpretação com partes bem estabeleci das da doutrina aristotélica das emoções. Neste artigo, procura-se oferecer uma interpretação diferente da katharsis poética de modo a tomá-Ia compatível com a doutrina aristotélica das emoções.

Abstract: Bemays has widely influenced the contemporary interpretation of the aristotelian notion of poetical katharsis as a relief from s ome mental affections (fear and pity) in a psychopathological paltem of emotions. But one of the problems the tenants of this interpretation must face is the fact that this is hardly compatible with some well established pieces of the Aristotelian doctrine of emotions. In this paper, the author suggests an interpretation of the Aristotelian poetical catharsis that prevents such problems of incompatibility.
