A LUTA DA MEMÓRIA CONTRA O ESQUECIMENTO: REFLEXÕES SOBRE OS TRABALHOS DE JACQUES DERRIDA E WALTER BENJAMIN

Resumo

A autora faz uma releitura de algumas reflexões de Jacques Derrida e Walter Benjamin sobre a memória, com o intuito de investigar a possibilidade de conexão razoável e legítima entre passado e presente. Embora os autores estejam corretos ao desvincularem o passado dos discursos sobre o passado, Derrida, ao renunciar totalmente ao passado, encadeia nova prisão de sentido ao efêmero e passageiro. Diferentemente, Benjamin não abre mão da volta ao passado, dando subsídios à conclusão da autora que, embora o resgate do passado, seja pela história, seja pela memória, tenha limites, ele ainda cumpre papel crucial na modernidade.

Abstract: The author reads some of Jacques Derrida's and Walter Benjamin's writings on memory with the objective of investigating a reasonable and legitimate connection between the present and the past. Although the two authors are right as they separate the past from the discourses about the past, Derrida implies a new prison of meaning to the ephemeral and transitory. Differently, Benjamin did not give up the past, providing arguments to the author's conclusion that although the connection with the past has some limits, it still develops a crucial role in modernity.
