A CRISE DA RACIONALIDADE MODERNA: UMA CRISE DE ESPERANÇA
Resumo
O autor estuda, neste artigo, a crise atual da razão moderna e distingue fundamentalmente dois possíveis tipos de crítica à modernidade: uma que se situa conscientemente no horizonte da modernidade e procura, a partir de seu espírito, superar o reducionismo com que a razão moderna se efetivou concretamente; a outra é uma rejeição radical da modernidade enquanto tal. Inspirando-se no pensamento de J. Habermas, o autor procura mostrar que não se trata de rejeitar pura e simplesmente a razão moderna, mas antes de pensar a razão numa perspectiva mais ampla, considerando não só a dimensão cognoscitiva, mas também a dimensão ética e a dimensão estético-expressiva da razão.
Abstract: In this article the author examines the present crisis of modem reason and distinguishes two possible types of criticism of the modem world: one which knowingly situates itself in the perspective and spirit of the modem world and attempts to overcome the reductionism by which modem reason effectively established itself; and the other which radically rejects the modem world as such. Based on the thought of J. Habermas the author shows that it is not a matter of rejecting purely and simply modem reason, but rather of placing it in a wider context, taking into account not only the cognitive dimension but also its ethical and esthetical-expressive dimensions.
