A UNIVERSIDADE E A CULTURA BRASILEIRA
Resumo
O artigo reflete sobre a Universidade em sua relação com a sociedade e a cultura. Aborda primeiro a questão da cultura brasileira, vista numa série de "retratos" que traçam o seu perfil. Em seguida esboça as linhas principais da dialética da cultura, a fim de ressaltar a posição do homem diante da cultura que ele mesmo cria e que lhe aparece como um fato exterior, a ser apropriado pela educação e pela reflexão. Em terceiro lugar, aborda o problema da dissolução do mundo ético e da cisão entre a Ética e a Política como expressão de uma época que parece ter perdido a referência a normas e valores. Finalmente, traça as linhas gerais do papel que caber à Universidade desempenhar na situação atual.
Abstract: The paper propose a reflexion on the University in its relation to society and culture. Firstly, it approaches the question of Brazilian culture, as seen in a series of "pictures" that seek to trace its outline. Secondly, it sketches the principle lines of the dialectic of the culture, in order to project the poüition of man in relation to the culture that he himself creates and which appears to him like an external fact that has to be appropriated by education and by reflexion. Thirdly, it approaches the problem of the dissolution of the World of ethics and the separation between Ethics and Politics as a expressive sign of a time that seems to have lost reference to norms and values. Finally, it traces in general terms the role which corresponds to the University to fulfill within the presente situation.
