FILOSOFIA E CRISTIANISMO
Resumo
Filosofia e Cristianismo. O cristianismo não é em primeiro lugar uma visão do mundo ou da história, mas um acontecimento histórico. E, no entanto, há nele uma exigência de racionalidade que o aproximou desde o início da filosofia. O cristianismo não hesitou em traduzir a sua originalidade dentro do horizonte da filosofia helenística. E desse encontro precisamente que irá surgir a cultura ocidental. Como explicar o progressivo estranhamento, senão a ruptura, que manifesta a cultura moderna com relação a estas raízes cristãs? A perspectiva histórica permite situar melhor os pontos críticos e as condições necessárias para um encontro fecundo entre cristianismo e filosofia. Ontem como hoje, tal encontro não poderá eludir o confronto com o paradoxo cristão por excelência: o acontecimento único do homem Jesus de Nazaré, reconhecido como Filho de Deus.
Summary: Philosophy and Christianity. Christianity is not principally a world historical vision, but rather an historical event. Nonetheless there is within it a rational demand that is found alongside it since the beginnings of philosophy. Christianity did not hesitate to translate its original thought within the framework of Hellenistic philosophy, and it is precisely from this encounter that Western culture will spring. How does one explain the progressive alienation, if not complete rupture, manifested by modem culture with its Christian roots? An historical perspective allows for a better placement of the critical moments and the necessary conditions for a productive encounter between Christianity and philosophy. In the past as well as today, such a dialogue cannot avoid confronting the supreme Christian paradox: the Jesus Event, the unique history of Nazorean known as the Son of God.
