O presente artigo reproduz o texto da aula inaugural do Curso de Filosofia no instituto de Artes e Cultura (IAC) da Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto, MG, em setembro de 1994. Depois de uma breve introdução. O tema da relação entre Filosofia e Cultura é tratado em três partes: a) Estrutura geral da relação entre Filosofia e Cultura; b) Ontologia da Cultura; c) Ética da Cultura. Na Conclusão é tratada a questão do lugar e da função da Filosofia na estrutura atual da Universidade brasileira.
Abstract: This article reproduces the text of the inaugural class of the Philosophy Course in Arts and Culture Institute (IAC) of the Federal University of Ouro Preto, MG, in September 1994. After a brief introduction. The relation between philosophy and culture is treated in three parts: a) General structure of the relationship between philosophy and culture; b) Ontology of Culture; c) Ethical Culture. On the Completion is treated the question of the place and function of philosophy in the current structure of the Brazilian University.
