A NOÇÃO DE IDENTIDADE NA TRADIÇÃO RACIONALISTA E O TEMA DA MODERNIDADE

Resumo

O propósito deste ensaio é mostrar as dificuldades enfrentadas pela reflexão filosófica moderna ao pretender construir a noção de identidade sobre bases puramente racionais e sem recorrer a fundamentos supra-históricos ou explicações tautológicas. Dois momentos são considerados: o surgimento do problema com Descartes e a saída encontrada por Hegel, com as deficiências da solução por ele proposta. Conclui-se que a crise do racionalismo tem levado o pensamento social contemporâneo a uma obsessiva preocupação pela História e a uma incessante reconstrução do passado como horizonte alternativo às perspectivas sombrias a respeito de qualquer forma de transcendência, nota característica do chamado tema da modernidade.

Abstract: The purpose of this essay is to show the difficulties faced by modem philosophical reflection when trying to root the concept of the identity on purely rational grounds and without resorting to suprahistorical or tautological explanations. Two moments are considered: the emergence of the problem with Descartes and the solution attempted by Hegel and its shortcomings. It is concluded that the crisis of rationalism have led contemporary social thought to an obsessive preocupation with History and to an incessant reconstruction of the past as an alterative horizon to counterbalance the rather bleak perspectives regarding any form of transcendence, a keynote of the so-called modernity theme.
