POLÍTICA E CIÊNCIA EM THOMAS HOBBES
Resumo
Nosso objetivo é apontar inconsistências nos fundamentos da teoria política de Hobbes que contrariam a sua certeza de haver construído a Política como uma ciência. Seguimos este caminho: 1) esclarecemos que, na visão de Hobbes, a verdadeira Política é da natureza da ciência, e não da prudência; 2) argumentamos que é possível apontar inconsistências na "ciência do Estado", Ã medida que podemos descobri-las na ciência das leis de natureza; 3) mostramos as inconsistências desta, pelo exame das definições hobbesianas do direito natural e da lei de natureza.
Abstract: Our aim is to point out inconsistencies in the foundations of Hobbes Political Theory, which go against his confidence of having built Politics as a science. The course we take is the following: 1) we show that, in Hobbes view, true Politics is of the nature of science, and not of prudence; 2) we argue that it is possible Io indicate inconsistencies in the "science of state" in so far as we can discover inconsistencies in the science of the laws of nature; 3) we then show the inconsistencies of the latter, by examining the Hobbesian definitions of natural right and law of nature.
