É evidente que a glória de Deus é para nós um bem, quer se trate da glória manifestada nas obras maravilhosas da história da salvação, culminando na Encarnação, quer se trate da glória intrínseca de Deus, das suas perfeições, porque é fonte de todos os bens e nossa beatitude. Mas onde fica o aspecto pessoal e livre? A perfeição divina é necessária como o ser divino. Só essa necessidade é também liberdade soberana, no sentido profundo da palavra: absoluta incondicionalidade. Daí a possibilidade para nós de uma atitude análoga à ação de graças. A estas considerações, a teologia da Trindade e da Encamação dão uma nova profundidade.

It is quite evidente that the glory of Cod represents something eminently good to us, taken either as God's glory manifested by wondrons deeds in the history of salvation and culminating in the incarnation of the Logos, or the intrinsic glory of God concerning his attributes which are the source of all gifts and beatitude. But what about his divine being and freedom of action? Divine perfection is intrinsic to his being as is his freedom; both are unconditioned. As a result we are in a position to render thanks to him. Arising from these considerations the theology concerning the Trinity and the incarnation gaines a new perspective.
