LINGUAGEM E ANTROPOLOGIA: O DIÁRIO ESPIRITUAL DE SANTO INÁCIO

Resumo

Linguagem e Antropologia; o Diário Espiritual do Sto. Inácio de Loyola. O artigo tem em vista submeter o texto do Diário Espiritual de Santo Inácio à análise lingüística. Inácio sempre evitou deliberadamente instrumentos lingüísticos que pudessem transmitir uma idéia vaga que fosse da sua experiência espiritual; ao contrário, ele fez pleno uso de todos os recursos da linguagem comum. A dimensão mística do seu Diário é tanto mais notável. Para expressá-la, palavras e estruturas lingüísticas são insuficientes; algo de novo deve surgir em primeiro plano. Esse novo elemento se manifesta no uso do termo "loquela" que aparece inesperadamente no registro do Diário no Domingo, 11 de maio. Rodeado por um campo semântico de tipo musical, o termo é inserido usualmente dentro do tempo da celebração litúrgica. Para tentar traduzir essa "loquela", parece que Inácio busca fazer uso de todos os recursos da língua dirigindo- se a Deus e que a resposta de Deus é de natureza não-lingüística. A "loquela" e a "visita" divina são as únicas "respostas espirituais" que Deus concede a Inácio.

Summary: Language and Anthropology: the Spiritual Journal of St. Ignatius of Loyola. The article proposes to subject the text of the Spiritual Journal of St Ignatius to linguistic analysis. Ignatius always deliberately avoided linguistic devices which would convey but a vague idea of his spiritual experience; on the contrary, he put to full use all the resources of common language. The mystical dimension of his Journal is all the more striking. To express it, words and linguistic structures fall short; something new must come to the fore. The new element is manifest in the use of the term "loquela" which shows up unexpectedly in the Journal's entry for Sunday 11th May. Surrounded by a semantic field of a musical type, the term is usually inserted within the lime of liturgical celebration. The attempt to translate this "loquela", it would seem that Ignatius seeks to make use of all the resources of language in addressing God and that God's answer is of a non-linguistic nature. The "loquela" and the divine "visitation" are the only "spiritual answers" Cod grants lo Ignatius.
