A POLÊMICA DE MARCUSE COM FREUD EM TORNO DA FELICIDADE

Resumo

De toda a imensa obra de Freud, O mal-estar na civilização parece ser o livro que mais fascínio exerce sobre o filósofo, seja pelo elevado nível especulativo do discurso, seja pelo alcance filosófico dos temas nele enfocados: felicidade, amor, repressão na civilização, etc, destacando-se o tema da felicidade. Isso já basta para aproximar tal obra das que se inscrevem na ética da eudaimonia. Entretanto, não se trata de um livro de filosofia, mas de psicanálise. Como então abordar aí filosoficamente a felicidade, sem violentar o quadro científico no qual tal questão se insere? Para tanto procurei observar a seguinte recomendação de Merleau-Ponty: Freud deve ser lido como um clássico.

Summary: Of all the immense works of Freud, Civilization and its Discontents, appears the exercise the most charm over the philosophers, be it for the high level of speculative discourse or the philosophical scope of the themes: happiness, love, repression in civilization, etc... (noting specially the central theme of happiness), whatever the fascination; it is sufficient enough to draw Freud's work closer to those inscribed in the ethic of eudaimonia. However, Civilization and its Discontents, is not a philosophical book, but a psychoanalitic one. How then do we philosophically approach the theme of happiness without violating the scientific framework in which it is enclosed? I sought to maintain the following recommendation of Merleau-Ponty: Freud should be read like a classic.
