MODERNIDADE, SECULARIZAÇÃO E A CRISE DE LEGITIMIDADE: UMA INTRODUÇÃO A BLUMENBERG

Resumo

O presente artigo e uma introdução ao debate entre Karl Lowith e Hans Blumenberg que nos coloca frente à difícil problemática de estabelecer a identidade, originalidade e legitimidade da idade moderna. Ao refutar a tese da secularização de Lowith, segundo a qual a idade moderna não seria mais do que uma escatologia secularizada, e, por isso mesma, ilegítima, Blumenberg recupera, por assim dizer, o projeto moderno em sua legitimidade própria. Em outras palavras, a idade moderna se justifica-a-si-mesma. Seu programa existencial: a "Afirmação-do-Eu."

Abstract: This article and an introduction to the debate between Karl and Hans Blumenberg Lowith that puts us in front of the difficult problem of establishing the identity, originality and legitimacy of the modern age. To refute the thesis of secularization Lowith, that the modern age would be no more than a secular eschatology, and therefore the same, illegitimate, Blumenberg recovers, as it were, modern design in its own legitimacy. In other words, the modern age is justified in-itself. His existential program: "Affirmation-do-I."
