FÉ E RAZÃO NA APOLOGIA DA RELIGIÃO CRISTÃ: ANOTAÇÕES SOBRE A RELAÇÃO ENTRE EXISTÊNCIA E TRANSCENDÊNCIA EM PASCAL

Resumo

Esse texto parte da hipótese de que seria possível estabelecer em Pascal uma relação entre Existência e Transcendência por via de uma leitura dos fragmentos que os comentadores supõem terem sido anotações para uma exposição que Pascal teria feito em Port-Royal sobre o livro que pretendia escrever, a Apologia da Religião Cristã. Não encontramos, nesses fragmentos, indicações de um trabalho de teologia racional, mas o esboço de uma tentativa de vincular a compreensão possível da existência humana, sobretudo no plano de suas contradições, à transcendência divina, pensada a partir do mistério da encarnação e da mediação de Jesus Cristo. Entre a imanência da existência humana e a transcendência da existência de Deus estabelece-se assim uma relação que se manifestará no na contradição grandeza/miséria, característica do ser humano.

Abstract: This text intends to examine a possible relationship between Transcendence and Existence in Pascal's philosophy through the reading of fragments that his commentators believe to be notes for a presentation he would have made at Port-Royal, concerning his project to write an Apology for Christianity. These fragments may be read as an attempt to link the possible intellection of human condition, with all its contradictions, to God's transcendence, as understood through the mystery of Jesus' incarnation and mediation. There is therefore a relationship between the immanence of human existence and the transcendence of God's existence, which manifests itself in the contradiction greatness/misery, characteristic of the human being.
