TOMÁS DE AQUINO ENTRE A ANTIGÜIDADE TARDIA E A MODERNIDADE RENASCIMENTAL

Resumo

O artigo focaliza o processo histórico-conceitual de formação do pensamento filosófico-teológico cristão no diálogo muitas vezes tenso com a filosofia grega. Na maioria das vezes, o pensamento cristão se apropria dos grandes temas da herança grega, subvertendo-os num processo de remodelação teórica. Terá sido Tomás de Aquino o último dos antigos, ou o primeiro dos modernos? A resposta começa a ser esboçada, mas deve ser desdobrada em pesquisas ulteriores.

Abstract: This article focuses on the historical and conceptual process of the shaping of Christian philosophical and theological thinking in its often tense dialogue with Greek philosophy. Most of the time, the Christian thought incorporated the main themes of Greek heritage through a process of theoretical remodeling. Was Thomas Aquinas actually the last of the Ancients or the first of the Moderns? This answer is starting to be discussed, but it still needs to be developed in further studies.
