A RESPOSTA DE PAUL RICOEUR AO CONTRATUALISMO HOBBESIANO E A IMPOSSIBILIDADE DE UMA ÉTICA SEM METAFÍSICA

Resumo

Thomas Hobbes (1588-1679), ao romper com o pensamento político dos antigos e se tornar o “pai da política moderna”, nos coloca frente a um grande desafio no plano da ética e da política, diante do qual somos provocados a questionar: Enquanto seres racionais e livres somos incoercivelmente inclinados ao Bem ou nossas relações são marcadas por um mecanicismo calculista e de interesses? Esta comunicação pretende respondê-la a partir do pensamento de Paul Ricoeur (1913-2005) e de Lima Vaz (1921-2002), tendo como princípio norteador a ideia da “impossibilidade de uma ética sem metafísica”.

Abstract: Thomas Hobbes (1588-1679), breaking off classical politic thought e becoming  the  “father of modern politics”,  put  us  in  front  of  a big challenge in the terms of Ethics e Politics, in the face of which we to ask: as rational and free beings we are incoercibly ordained to Good or our relations are marked by a calculating and self-seeking mechanism? This paper pretends to answer the question from the thought of Paul Ricoeur (1913-2005) and Lima Vaz (1921-2002), having as North principle the idea of the “impossibility of Ethics without Metaphysics”.
