“PÕE AQUI O TEU DEDO...” A FÉ NO CORPO E SUAS MARCAS: UMA REFLEXÃO ENTRE ARTE E TEOLOGIA

Resumo

O objetivo deste artigo é pensar teologicamente o corpo no Cristianismo, deixando-nos ajudar pela polissêmica linguagem de uma pintura de Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio, A Incredulidade de Tomé. Movidos pelas inquietações que nascem da cultura somática contemporânea, na qual corpo perfeito e sua imagem assumem uma posição quase ditatorial, percebe-se na fé na encarnação um possível caminho de diálogo e libertação. Caravaggio, na Incredulidade, parece intuir esta maneira de entender a fé, como “fé na carne”, carne histórica e marcada, mas redimida, salva e santificada. Por meio da análise da pintura à luz das considerações teológicas sobre o corpo do teólogo belga Adolphe Gesché, chega-se a reconhecer a corporeidade do Verbo e a carnalidade da salvação, qual Palavra capaz de acolher e interpelar a cultura somática contemporânea.

 Abstract: The objective of this article is to think theologically about the body in Christianity, letting ourselves be helped by the polysemic language of a painting by Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio, The Incredulity of Saint Thomas. Moved by the questions that emerge in our contemporary somatic culture, in which the perfect body and its image assume an almost dictatorial position, one can perceive a possible path towards dialogue and liberation in our faith in the incarnation. This way of understanding our faith, as “faith in the flesh,” in a flesh that is historical and scarred, but redeemed, saved and sanctified, seems to be the way in which Caravaggio, in Incredulity, explains it.  Through an analysis of the painting in light of theological considerations about the body by the Belgian theologian, Adolphe Gesché, one can recognize the corporeality of the Verb and the carnal nature of salvation, the Word capable of welcoming and questioning today's somatic culture.
